Lucy Rose has shared the new music video for her song ‘Sail Away’ which features Danny Dyer.
Directed by Dylan Friese-Greene – who previously worked with Rose on the videos for her singles ‘Over When It’s Over’ and ‘The Racket’ – the video sees Dyer lip-syncing to the track while floating over the ocean and standing on the beach.
This marks the second time the EastEnders actor has appeared in one of Rose’s videos following her 2016 track ‘Nebraska’ where Dyer starred as a drag queen.
“So honoured to have the one and only @dannydyerofficial star in the music video for ‘Sail Away’. It’s been 8 years since our first collaboration and I’m beyond chuffed that Danny wanted to do something for this track. Directed by the fantastic @dylanfriesegreene,” shared the singer in the caption of an Instagram post which shared a snippet of the video.
Fans of Dyer were quick to discuss how the video is similar to the fate of his EastEnders character Mick Carter who was swept out at sea. “Mick Carter’s exit anthem,” wrote one user while two others shared: “Mick carter still sailing away,” and “Love this! Slightly ironic with how he left Eastenders.”
In a four-star review of ‘This Ain’t The Way You Go Out’, NME shared: “‘This Ain’t The Way You Go Out’, then, is less about bold statements but recognising the quiet, personal victories on that journey.”
It continued: “Now, she brings in a dancey shuffle to ‘Could You Help Me’ and ‘Life’s Too Short’ and a fearless veracity on ‘The Racket’; these are some of the most interesting and sonically varied songs of her entire career. This is, one hopes, the start of an intriguing new chapter.”
Previously speaking to NME earlier this year, Rose detailed the health issues she faced post-pregnancy that left her with eight broken vertebrae in her back and which ultimately inspired her fifth LP. “Life was definitely upside down – I couldn’t walk or move, and breathing was excruciating”.
In other news, Dyer recently opened up about his recent collaboration with Robbie Williams on stage at BST Hyde Park for a version of Blur’s ‘Parklife’.
Speaking about the collaboration, Dyer told Radio X that he was approached by Williams during a recent Soccer Aid event.
“I was like, what? Are you sure about this?’” said Dyer. “And he went, ‘I’ve never been more sure of anything,’ So I said yes, and then I thought, ‘Oh now I’ve got to do it.’
