Blossoms respond to Oasis reunion tour support rumours

Blossoms have addressed rumours they could be opening for Oasis on their 2025 reunion tour.

Speculation first began over the bands touring together when Blossoms’ gig in Manchester’s Wythenshawe Park was used to tease the original announcement of Oasis’ reunion, the same night that Liam Gallagher headlined Reading Festival.

Indeed, it has also been reported that Liam was interested in having some “established acts” to support them.

Now, the Stockport indie band’s vocalist and guitarist Tom Ogden and guitarist and percussionist Joe Donovan have spoken about the rumours on an appearance on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch.

Asked directly if they’d landed the Oasis gig, Ogden said: “No. I don’t even think they’ve sorted it out yet. There’s been no conversation or anything else. I think they’ll probably sort it out next year.”

When questioned on how they reacted to the Oasis reunion more broadly, Donovan suggested their comeback “might start something” in bringing in an influx of young musicians “picking up instruments again”.

“When your favourite band gets back together, what’s not to love about that?” added Ogden.

Blossoms are also supporting Liam Gallagher at a gig in Malta next weekend, coinciding with the release of their new album ‘Gary’ on Friday (September 20).

Already, the ‘Oasis Live 25’ world tour has sold out all of its initially shared 14 stadium dates – set to take place between Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin next summer. Two extra shows in London have since been announced for September 2025, and tickets were sold via a private ballot to fans who were unsuccessful the first time around.

One of the other acts who have been touted to potentially support Oasis is fellow Mancunians Courteeners. When asked by NME if they were going to see Oasis at Manchester’s Heaton Park, or had been asked to open for them, frontman Liam Fray said: “100 per cent, I will be there. Supports and stuff, I don’t think any of that’s been talked about. Listen, they could ask whoever they want – it’s still going to be amazing.

Richard Ashcroft‘s name has also been thrown into the running, having had a long history with Oasis. He was the inspiration behind their 1995 hit ‘Cast No Shadow’ and opened for Liam at Finsbury Park in 2018, having also played with Oasis during his time in The Verve. Ashcroft and Gallagher also teamed up for the 2022 hit ‘C’mon People (We’re Making It Now)’.

After a fan on X/Twitter asked if Ashcroft would be supporting Oasis at their 2025 live shows, Gallagher replied in very typically Liam Gallagher fashion: “That would be BIBLICAL”.

Others potentially in the mix include Kasabian, Manic Street Preachers, LCD Soundsystem, High VisSam Fender and The Reytons.

In other news, fans have been divided over the final Oasis ticket ballot. Some said it was “not a mess like the first time”, while for others it was “shambolic from start to finish”.
